Do you ever find yourself asking; “What is God’s will?” It is very simple to know if you will follow the instructions Jesus gives in John 5:39- “Search the Scriptures.” Every time you run across the phrase: “This is the will of God…” pay attention. If you truly want to know the will of God, each time you wonder about that remember 3 words that all begin with the letter “S,” salvation, sanctification, and service. Listen deep inside of your soul as the Lord Himself tells you: “The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). God doesn’t want anyone to perish, to be lost. His will is for you and me, and everyone to experience salvation.

A man asked: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Immediately the answer came: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:30-31). Ask yourself an honest question- do you believe in your heart in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ? A man I wrote to in prison said: “Denny, there is 18 inches between heaven and hell.” He said “I believe in my head that Jesus is the Son of God, who came to earth in the flesh, and died on the cross to pay for all my sins, but I don’t honestly believe that in my heart. There’s about 18 inches between my head and my heart. If I don’t get that belief into my heart, I will go to hell.” Romans 10:9 makes it crystal clear: “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” The only requirement for salvation is faith to believe the gospel (which means ‘good news’) “that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1st Corinthians 15:3-4). It is God’s will for you to experience “salvation.”

The second “s” is sanctification: “This is the will of God, even your sanctification” (1st Thessalonians 4:3). God wants you to live a holy life. That is impossible to do unless God, Himself gives you the ability. You will find that sanctification comes when you make the sincere commitment that “I am going to read, and obey the Scriptures.” God’s name is “Jealous” (Exodus 34:14). Sanctification is “my life set apart for God.”

The third “s” is service; “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). God saves us, and sanctifies us so that we will be His hands and His feet, and His mouth, doing service work for Him. Finally, Jesus said: “This is the will of Him that sent me, that everyone who seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John6:40).
